Hogar de Amor Children’s Home - Stories of Hope and Healing
Every child who comes to the Hogar de Amor Home has lived through circumstances no child should face. As new children arrive, they are scared, alone, and come with only the clothes on their backs.
After some time has passed, soon the smiles start coming out a little at a time as the other kids and caretakers love on them, hug them, and pray for them.
Transformation and restoration don’t come overnight, but the process begins and is day by day and sometimes just moment by moment as the love of Jesus takes over their lives.
Here are three of their journeys — stories of pain transformed into hope through love, safety, and prayer. (Their names have been changed to protect their privacy)

1. Rosa - A New Beginning for a Brave Young Girl
For years, she lived in fear, believing that the abuse she endured was “normal.” When she finally learned it was not, her world changed forever.
At the Hogar de Amor, she found a safe place, caring adults, and the support she needed to begin healing. Today she’s back in school, dreaming of becoming a teacher — determined to help others know they are worthy of love and respect.
2. Esmeralda - From Loss to Hope
Her childhood was marked by violence that took everything from her. For a long time, she carried pain no child should ever know.
Now, surrounded by people who love her, she’s learning that her past does not define her future. She enjoys art, laughter, and helping the younger children at the Home — signs of a spirit that refuses to be broken.
3. Carmen - Finding Her Smile Again
When she arrived, she was frightened and withdrawn after severe abuse and neglect. Through patient care, medical attention, and gentle encouragement, she began to rediscover trust.
Each day she grows stronger — reading, playing, and dreaming again. Her smile reminds us why this work matters: every child deserves a chance to heal and hope.
